Evelyn Gompf 100th Birthday Evelyn Gompf Will Celebrate

EVELYN GOMPF 100th BIRTHDAY Evelyn Gompf will celebrate her 100th birthday on September 2 with an open house from 3:00 P. M. to 5:00 P. M. at the home of Hugh and Grace Thompson, 5777 Windermere, Fairfield. Family and friends are cordially invited to join her for the celebration. Evelyn is a graduate of Asbury College and was a teacher in the Fairfield Elementary School for 25 years. She was active in the Fairfield Wesleyan Church along with her husband Edwin Gompf who passed away in 1996. Evelyn taught Sunday School and Vacation Bible School, sang in the choir and various ensembles. For many years Evelyn and her husband were dedicated members of Gideons International whose mission is distributing Bibles around the world. Evelyn also held offices in the Gideons Women's Auxiliary. Music was always an important part of Evelyn's life. She grew up in a musical family where singing and instrumental ensembles were an integral part of family life. She sang in several women's trios and various other musical groups, often traveling to other churches and other states. Evelyn continues to be blessed with relatively good health and an exceptional memory and takes an active interest in family and friends and current events. Evelyn has been a dedicated Christian throughout her life. She has made her faith a foundation upon which she has lived her 100 years. Her goal in life has been and continues to be to advance the Kingdom of God and to encourage others to follow the path she has chosen.
