Franklin High School Alumnus Receives National Recognition The Nuclear Energy Institute (NEI) and the US Nuclear Power industry recently recognized Martin Wright as their 2018 Jason Jang Award recipient. The Jason Jang Award is given to an individual who exemplifies the concepts of environmental stewardship by fostering the most technically-sound sampling, analysis, and assessment of effluent and environmental radioactivity; plays a key mentoring role to the nuclear industry through encouragement of higher analytical standards of excellence; and a lifetime of technical expertise for the betterment of public protection. The award was presented June 26th at the annual NEI Radiological Effluent and Environmental Workshop (REEW) in New Orleans, Louisiana. The Jason Jang award is named after an NRC Region 1 regulator and is the organization's highest recognition. The award has previously been given to NRC regulators, nuclear industry consultants, and utility professionals. Martin Wright was a 1979 Franklin High School graduate and has a BS in Nuclear Technology from the University of New York. Wright served 6 years in the US Naval Nuclear Power Program and was stationed onboard the nuclear cruiser USS Long Beach CGN-9 homeported in San Diego California. Wright is currently a Principal Engineer at Diablo Canyon Nuclear Power Station in Avila Beach California where he has worked for the past 33 years. Martin Wright is the son of Orville and Linda Wright of Beal Road in Franklin Ohio.
