PUBLIC NOTICE The U.S. Department of Commerce, Economic Development Administration (EDA) is considering a request for Federal assistance from The Miami Conservancy District to construct the Old North Dayton Levee and Alternate Transportation project in Dayton, Montgomery County, Ohio to upgrade existing deteriorated concrete armoring on the levee and constructing a new 1-mile alternate transportation route between Keowee Street and Helena Street. Pursuant to the National Environmental Policy Act of 1969 and the National Historic Preservation Act of 1966, as amended, EDA is conducting an environmental assessment (EA) of the proposed project. The project will upgrade the deteriorated concrete that armors the Greater Old North Dayton levee and construct a new 1.0 mile paved bike trail through the Old North Dayton are as a crucial link for alternative transportation and commuters. The project will be located along the existing levee on the south and east banks of the Great Miami River from a point approximately 810 feet east of I-75 near the north end of Webster Street to a point approximately 1,720 feet south of Helena Street. The purpose of the project is to safeguard lives, properties, jobs, and business continuity in the Greater Old North Dayton area and create a crucial link for alternative transportation and commuters.
