BMHA to Open Housing Choice Voucher Waiting Lists

BMHA TO OPEN HOUSING CHOICE VOUCHER WAITING LISTS Butler Metropolitan Housing Authority today announced it will be accepting applications on-line for its Housing Choice Voucher Program (Tenant Based and Project Based) beginning at 8:00 AM November 4, 2019 until 4:30 PM on November 7, 2019. Butler Metropolitan Housing Authority will also begin accepting applications on-line for its Housing Choice Voucher Program (Shared Housing and Project Based- Grove Street) beginning at 8:00 AM November 4, 2019 and the Shared Housing and Project Based-Grove Street Waiting Lists will remain open until further notice. Applications must be submitted on-line at https://www.waitlistcheck.com/OH777. You may apply using any computer, laptop, tablet, or smart phone etc. with Internet Access. The Housing Choice Voucher Program is the federal government's primary program that allows very low-income families to choose and lease safe, decent, and affordable privately-owned rental housing. The Housing Choice Voucher Program assistance covers the rent portion that exceeds approximately 30% of an eligible family's monthly income. Acceptance and/or assistance are based on income verification, eligibility requirements and preference factors. To better serve applicants and to make the application process available to all including those who are least likely to apply, the entire application process is available on-line at https://www.waitlistcheck.com/OH777 Applicants must apply during the period the list is open for application. Status information regarding placement on the list will be available on-line shortly after the closing date. Instructions regarding obtaining status information are provided during the on-line application process. Due to limited funding availability, applications for the Tenant Based Vouchers and Project Based Vouchers will be selected and ordered using a random lottery system. NOT ALL APPLICANTS WILL BE PLACED ON THE WAITING LISTS. By randomly selecting the applications received for placement on the waiting lists, the process is equitable. The time and date of receipt of the application on-line has no bearing on whether an application will be selected for the Tenant Based Vouchers and Project Based Vouchers waiting list. Applicants can apply to as many of the waiting lists that they would choose, however ONLY ONE PRE-APPLICATION PER FAMILY, PER WAITING LIST, WILL BE ACCEPTED. DUPLICATE APPLICATIONS WILL BE REJECTED. Applicants are reminded that NO PAPER APPLICATIONS WILL BE PROVIDED OR ACCEPTED IN PERSON AT THE BMHA OFFICE. Someone else may apply for you if you need help using a computer and many public libraries and social agencies offer free computer services.
